Annette is originally from Kansas City, MO and eventually moved to the south when she met a nice Southern gentleman named Jared. She graduated from Southern Adventist University with a degree in nursing in 2005.  She has worked in branding design and marketing with her husband in various business ventures throughout the past 7 years and in 2009  followed her dream of becoming a wedding gown designer and launched her business Chaviano Couture. A year after that, she debuted her first runway collection at New York City’s Bridal Fashion Week. A self taught entrepreneur and designer, she has grown her business from the ground up into a well-known brand.  She has worked with brides from around the world and been featured in Martha Stewart, Style Me Pretty Living, The Knot, Weddings Unveiled, Southern Weddings, and Oncewed among  many others. She is passionate about life and wants to serve God every day. Her favorite verses in scripture is Phillipians 4:6-8. BIGGEST FEAR: Being rejected and failure. Have a hard time with these, but God is working on my heart and helping me  trust Him.

FIRST TIME I SAW JARED I THOUGHT: I thought ” Woohoo, wonder who this cute guy is” I then proceeded to make sure I “studied” at a table which was right outside one of his business classes so he would run into me when he would go to and from class. My plan worked:)

FAVORITE PLACES I HAVE TRAVELED TO: Jerusalem and Rome. Love seeing all the history and I ate some really, really good food in Palestine.

FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR: Has to be fall! I love the air, the leaves, wearing sweaters and boots, love it all!

RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD: Very important to me. My parents from a very young age instilled in me a love for God and a desire to do His will and let Him lead my life. I continue to try to do so every day. Prayer is a big part of my life, and I believe God answers prayer. If you have a special prayer request you’d like for me to pray for e-mail me about it!

HOW DID CHAVIANO COUTURE BEGIN:  I got engaged to Jared the fall of 2005 and my search for wedding gowns began. I looked everywhere and did not find something I truly loved. Since I was little I always loved sketching and drawing wedding gowns. I decided to design my own gown. For our wedding on September 3, 2006 I wore my own custom gown and from there my dream of designing wedding gowns took flight. Jared was a huge inspiration in giving me the final push I needed to take a leap of faith and follow my dreams.  In 2009 I launched Chaviano Couture and had my first brides that fall. It has been a learning experience, but it has truly been a joy and blessing to do what I do.

BEST PART ABOUT MY JOB: Making new friends and meeting new people. Getting to know my brides and designing their special gown is a true joy for me!

BEST BUSINESS ADVICE I CAN GIVE: I believe the key to being successful in this industry is staying true to yourself and always being authentic with your brand. Too many people try to emulate others and focus on what everyone else wants them to be. Be who God called you to be. If you have been given a talent, use it. Don’t let money or popularity sway you. Be honest and always find a way to encourage and bless others through what you do.
